ATTENTION ALL REGGAE LOVERS !!!! There is a new artist hitting the streets with something a bit different to offer. There aren't many people pursuing the whole Reggae thing, so it's a bit refreshing to come across someone from my background that is involved a great deal in his roots and is trying to take it to another level. I took a listen to the music and I have to say that I am a bit impressed with what I have heard. Ashanie definitely has records for the clubs such as " BadMind" and "Wine" and I think that it has potential to go far. You can tell that there is so much that has influanced his sound. Ashanie will be looking to drop his record in late summer from the label that he is currently with, " DeepMedzRecords" and everyone sould be on the lookout for this artist and support him because he is doing something that a lot of other people aren't and he possesses so much confidence and you can't do anything, but support that. So , I wish you thr best luck on your mudic and hope that it flourishes to its fullest potential and thrives.
I got the oppurtunity to speak with Ashanie and got some background on his music career:
1) What inspired you to do music ? How long have you been a musician ?
" Well being from the Caribbean music has always been a part of my life, But I was inspired by poetry and bringing words to life. I remember growing up listening to Bob Marley , Michael Jackson, Peter Tosh, Bounty Killer, Beenie Man etc and just being touched by the msg and lifestyles being portrayed all through lyrics, melodies and harmonies. I have been a musician for 5 years and counting."
2) Would you say your sound is different than others ?
" Yes, because i think the flavor I bring is something that's different and missing at this point is music , My style is like a blend of patois lyrics in hip-hop flow form if that makes any sense."
3) Is music a career or a hobby ?
" I would say that to me it's both, like I honestly would just love to do music even if I'm not gonna get paid or sell a copy. I Also understand that music is a business and it's a lot of ups and downs to that aspect of it , but if I can't have fun doing music then how I can I expect someone to enjoy it. Music is deeper than just fame and fortune it's a way of life."
4) What should everyone expect from you this year ?
" More music , Real music , I just want people to be prepared for something different, and my first EP and also our label DeepMedzRecords is preparing to drop an album by late summer so they can look out for that...Just a plethora of things entertainment related."
